Fourth of July Travel Tips

PHOENIX — AAA tells 3 On Your Side that the upcoming holiday is going to generate a lot of travelers on the road and in the air.

In fact, it’s estimated that 812,000 Arizonans plan to somewhere for the long weekend. Of that number, 650,000 will drive to their destination.

And while gas will be slightly cheaper than it was this time last year, motorists can plan on spending around $3.49 a gallon while on the road, according to AAA.

As for the rest of your July 4th budget, the average family will spend close to $600. And half of that will be spent on eating out and beverages.

The next expensive thing will be hotel accommodations, and the remaining budget will pay for gas.

Also, to make your traveling easier, you might want to consider downloading AAA’s free app for your smart phone. It will help you with directions, finding cheap gas and a whole lot more. You can find out more on the AAA website.
